Florida roof insurance age rule

Will insurance make me replace my roof?

Informational only — never advice. This summarises Fla. Stat. §627.7011 in plain English. Your policy, roof condition and insurer filings matter. Talk to your agent or a licensed professional.

The rule in plain English

Under 15 years

An insurer may not refuse to issue or renew solely because of roof age if the roof is less than 15 years old.

15 years or older

An inspection showing at least 5 years of remaining useful life is the key document. Without it, renewal trouble is more likely.

What to do next

  • Find install/permit date
  • Book inspection well before renewal
  • Keep report + photos with your policy
